Doing business in the Algarve doesn’t have to be restricted to the tourism industry as we have seen over the duration of the pandemic.
What was once considered a place for strictly sunshine and relaxation has become a hub for tech and remote workers to thrive while reaping all the benefits afforded to vacationers of decades past. The IPBN has kept its finger on the pulse of this growing epicenter for digital nomads and the like by drawing attention to the benefits of living and working in the region, providing networking potential and contacts to help with relocation through our Algarve chapter and this year’s Algarve Living Series held from January through March.
Part one of The Algarve Living Series, The Keys to Personal and Professional Success, was led by keynote speakers Declan Cassidy, CEO of Lazer Telecom, Kelly Murtagh, Director of Omey Projects, Rob Jenner, CEO of Vilamoura World, and Sharon Ferrell, Chair of the IPBN Algarve, who explained why the Algarve has been the perfect place for their families and businesses.
The second part entitled Planning your Healthcare Strategies Alongside Wellness, Sports, and Leisure Activities was marked by speakers João Richard Costa, Director of Marketing & Sales at Ombria Resort, Chitra Stern, CEO, Martinhal Group, Michael Stock, Manager, Quinta dos Vales winery and Dr. Paulo Sousa, Clinical Director of HPA private hospital group who came together to deliver a simple message to those thinking of making the move to the Algarve: "Just do it!" See here why the vote of confidence was unanimous.
Part three of the series, Structuring Your Finances to Avail of the Significant Tax Incentives Offered by the Portuguese Government, moderated by Sharon Farrell, invited three knowledgeable finance professionals to share their tips on the financial hurdles associated with relocation to Portugal's southernmost region. Keynote speakers included Gavin Scott, Senior Partner at Blevins Franks, Justin Ryan, Property Lawyer at AllisLaw (both IPBN member companies), and Isabel Duarte, IPBN member and Senior Accountant at Terra CFO.
The final installment of the series under the title Buying and Renting Property in the Algarve paid special attention to the particulars of connectivity in the areas of working, traveling, and getting around. Keynote speakers included Chitra Stern, CEO Martinhal Group & United Lisbon International School, João Richard Costa, Director of Marketing & Sales of Ombria Resort, Michael Stock, Manager of Quinta dos Vales & Carvoeira Gardens, and Luis Teixeira da Silva, Director of Algarve Senior Living & Luz Living.
