Child and Vulnerable Adult Protection Policy

1. Introduction

The IPBN is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for children and vulnerable adults involved in our programmes and activities. This policy outlines our dedication to protecting the well-being of these individuals.

2. Legal Framework

This policy is aligned with relevant local laws and international standards concerning child and vulnerable adult protection. The IPBN is committed to complying with all applicable legal requirements.

3. Definitions

In this policy, a "child" is defined as an individual under the age of 18. A "vulnerable adult" refers to any person aged 18 or over who may be unable to take care of themselves or protect themselves from harm or exploitation due to age, illness, disability, or other factors.

4. Policy Scope

This policy applies to all volunteers, members, and associates of the IPBN who may come into contact with children or vulnerable adults during the course of our programmes and activities.

5. Policy Statement

The IPBN is committed to safeguarding the well-being of children and vulnerable adults. We recognize our responsibility to protect them from any form of misconduct, such as exploitation or abuse, which may cause harm to these individuals.

6. Code of Conduct

We have established procedures for screening and selecting staff and volunteers, including background checks, reference checks, and interviews.

8. Training and Awareness

The IPBN provides training programs on child protection and vulnerable adult issues for its volunteers. Ongoing awareness initiatives are also in place.

9. Reporting Procedures

We have clear procedures for investigating concerns or allegations, with disciplinary actions and consequences for violations. 

10. Responding to Concerns

Any concerns or allegations reported will be referred to the designated investigative body, in accordance with local law, which is responsible for conducting a thorough and impartial investigation. That body will determine the appropriate disciplinary measures and consequences in line with established procedures.

11. Record Keeping

The IPBN maintains records of incidents, reports, and actions taken while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection measures.

12. Communication

We communicate our child and vulnerable adult protection policies internally and externally. Reporting to relevant authorities will be carried out if necessary.

13. Collaboration and Strategic Development

The IPBN is committed to working with key community stakeholders to collaborate and strategise cooperatively. We will develop tools, resources, and frameworks to advance this and other relevant policies, ensuring a proactive and unified approach to child and vulnerable adult protection.
