The Ireland Portugal Business Network (IPBN) is delighted to announce that Otonomee, the award-winning, remote-first Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) company, has joined the network as its newest Executive Partner and official sponsor of the upcoming Tony Boyle Business Success Awards, taking place on January 29th at the Irish Embassy in Lisbon.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to innovation, people-centred business, and strengthening economic and professional ties between Ireland and Portugal. The IPBN is proud to welcome Otonomee into its Executive Partner community at a moment when the company is experiencing rapid growth, international recognition, and continued impact across multiple markets.
Founded in 2020 by Aidan and Hilary O’Shea, Otonomee began as a dinner-table conversation during the COVID-19 pandemic and has since evolved into a boundary-breaking, BCorp-certified, global BPO organisation. Built on a remote-first model, the company connects talent across seven countries — and counting — while placing autonomy, trust, and culture at the centre of its operations, which Co-Founder and CCO of Otonomee, Hilary O’Shea, further explained in a recent podcast with the IPBN.
“Our journey to becoming a B Corp is aligned with Otonomee’s journey and our growth. At our foundation in 2020, we had three pillars: a people pillar…giving people the autonomy to choose where they live and work, a partner pillar, helping partners scale faster…as we are extremely flexible…and are able to support your brand in a matter of weeks, not months, and then the community was our third pillar…We are here to create a difference, no matter how great or how small.”
Since becoming a certified B Corp in 2023, Otonomee has marked significant milestones, including celebrating four years of incorporation in Portugal in 2025. Today, the company employs more than 600 people, representing 54 nationalities, speaking over 20 languages, and supporting over one million customer interactions worldwide. With particular expertise in HealthTech, SaaS, and eCommerce, Otonomee continues to expand its footprint, with new roles emerging at a rapid rate.
Speaking about the company’s origins, CEO and Co-Founder Aidan O’Shea explained:
“The outsourcing industry was often characterised by poor employee experiences and high turnover, which inevitably impacted service quality. We believed there was a better way — one that delivered better outcomes for clients while offering people autonomy over where and how they work. Having scaled and exited businesses before, I wanted to do it again — but this time with purpose, and on our own terms.”
From the outset, culture was a foundational pillar. Hilary O’Shea reflected:
“Before the pandemic, remote working wasn’t widely seen as productive or secure — and that changed overnight. What interested us most was how we could intentionally design a company where culture could not only survive remote work, but thrive.”
That approach has paid off. Otonomee’s teams are now spread across Ireland, Portugal, Bulgaria, the Philippines, the United States, Japan, Chile, and Romania — with employees based everywhere from big cities to rural communities. In an internal poll, 48% of employees identified autonomy as the company value they connected with most, reinforcing the strength of Otonomee’s people-first philosophy and its positive impact on retention and engagement.
As the global outsourcing landscape evolves, Otonomee continues to push boundaries. In a recent interview with Business & Finance Magazine, Aidan O’Shea said:
“As AI takes on more routine tasks, we see partners like Otonomee moving up the value chain,” said Aidan O’Shea. “We’re focused on higher-value, empathetic customer interactions and more flexible models that better serve both clients and people.”
The company’s momentum has not gone unnoticed. At the end of 2025, Otonomee was shortlisted as one of Think Business Ireland’s 100 Hottest Start-Ups to Watch in 2026, following a year that also saw the company win the title for Best Employee Engagement at the CCMA Awards, be named as an EY Entrepreneur of the Year finalist, and be ranked 10th in the Deloitte Fast 50 Technology Awards. Otonomee is particularly proud to be recognised alongside fellow B Corp organisations, underscoring its commitment to responsible growth and long-term value creation.
The IPBN sees the partnership as a natural alignment.
“Otonomee embodies the values we champion at IPBN — innovation, sustainability, cross-border collaboration, and people-focused leadership,” said IPBN General Manager Arnold Delville. “We are delighted to welcome them as an Executive Partner and to have their support for the Tony Boyle Business Success Awards, one of the most meaningful events in our annual calendar.”
The Tony Boyle Business Success Awards, hosted at the Irish Embassy in Lisbon, celebrate excellence, leadership, and achievement within the Irish-Portuguese business community. Otonomee’s sponsorship underscores its commitment to recognising and supporting businesses that lead with purpose.
