Join the Ireland Portugal Business Network on Thursday, 15 October, at the Dublin offices of IPBN member company IN2 Engineering for a conversation exploring the opportunities, challenges, and realities of expanding across borders.

IN2 Engineering is a leading Irish engineering consultancy with an international presence, and its experience of developing its activities in Portugal provides a valuable case study for Irish businesses considering the Portuguese market — whether as a destination for expansion, a source of talent, a base for international growth, or a market for new projects and partnerships.

Hosted by Sharon Dehmel, IPBN Board Member, the conversation will bring together CEO Barry Flynn and James Redmond, MD, Group Managing Director, alongside Filipe Costa, Head of International Markets at IN2 Engineering, who will share the Portugal perspective and IN2’s plans for further expansion in the country.

The discussion will explore:

  • What prompted IN2 to consider Portugal and what opportunities they identified in the market

  • Whether Portugal can provide a platform for wider international expansion

  • IN2’s experience to date, including opportunities, challenges, talent, and market realities

  • The lessons learned along the way, and what other Irish companies could take from their experience

  • IN2’s plans for continued growth and expansion in Portugal

Rather than focusing solely on the theory of doing business across borders, this conversation will offer a practical look at what it means to take that step — and what businesses should consider before doing so.

The discussion will be followed by informal networking at the IN2 offices, providing an opportunity to meet fellow IPBN members and guests, exchange experiences, and build the relationships that sit at the heart of successful cross-border business.

For the IPBN, connecting businesses across Ireland and Portugal is about more than creating introductions. It is about building trust, sharing knowledge, and creating the relationships that can lead to new partnerships and opportunities.

Come along to hear directly from a company putting that experience into practice, ask questions, share your own experiences, and connect with others exploring the opportunities between Ireland and Portugal.
