Joe retired from his trading company, Millennium Fresh Foods Ltd, in 2016. He was involved in the import/export of poultry meat from such far flung places as Brazil, Thailand, China and Israel and exporting poultry to China, Africa, Russia and Ukraine.

Joe now spends 8 months of the year in Carvoeiro and is looking at exporting organic citrus and soft fruits from the Algarve to Ireland and the UK (Brexit permitting). 

Joe has a degree in Food Science from Queen’s University in Belfast and an MSc from the University of East Anglia. As well as working in Ireland. Joe spent almost 10 years in Africa with Concern and FAO. He speaks French and Italian and working hard on his Portuguese.

Joe is originally from Clones in Co Monaghan.
