The name "Atelier Lapa" was inspired by the concept of an "arch" or "passage," symbolizing transformation and the creation of new stories within spaces. Tânia shared, "This vision, combined with my passion for design and commitment to innovative and welcoming solutions, led me to establish the atelier and embark on this creative journey."

After completing her studies in Interior Design and Contemporary Art History, Tânia founded Atelier Lapa Interior Design to turn her vision into reality. Her approach centers on deeply understanding her clients’ needs and aspirations to deliver tailored, unique designs.

Tânia specializes in key aspects of interior design, including space composition and optimized layouts, material selection that blends aesthetics and functionality, and project management with meticulous attention to detail. She is also dedicated to incorporating the latest innovations, ensuring that her designs provide tangible benefits in both personal and professional settings.

Tânia reflected on one of the atelier's most rewarding endeavors: “One of our most rewarding projects was designing eight interior spaces for the Maison & Objet trade show in Paris as part of the 'Portugal Naturally' campaign organized by AICEP. The objective was to showcase the best of Portuguese design and craftsmanship to an international audience.

“For this project, we collaborated with over 80 Portuguese companies, incorporating furniture, lighting, textiles, and décor pieces. We created thoughtfully designed environments that drew attention to Portugal's stand and highlighted the excellence and creativity of Portuguese design. It was a challenging yet incredibly gratifying experience.”

Atelier Lapa Interior Design collaborates with a multidisciplinary team of designers, architects, and skilled artisans to ensure high standards of design, quality, and craftsmanship. Their ongoing projects reflect their commitment to blending timeless aesthetics with practicality. Notable projects include:

• A furniture, lighting, and décor showroom in the Lapa district: This multifunctional space serves as both a showroom for exclusive pieces and a venue for events and workshops.
• A hotel renovation in Cascais: This project focuses on creating a luxurious, modern experience while preserving the local charm.

In 2024, Atelier Lapa Interior Design further distinguished itself by launching a sustainability-focused design initiative. This groundbreaking effort integrates eco-friendly materials, energy-efficient lighting, and responsible practices across projects. One standout achievement was a commercial project that combined biophilic design with smart technology to create a harmonious and sustainable environment.

Tânia explained, “We used natural materials, adaptive lighting systems, and smart devices to reduce environmental impact and enhance well-being. This success reflects our commitment to innovation, balancing aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability, creating sophisticated spaces that meet modern needs in a responsible way.”
