OCUBO is a leading creative studio specialized in immersive experiences, video mapping, and large-scale multimedia and audiovisual shows, both nationally and internationally, for clients such as Formula 1, Disney, FIFA, UNESCO, Rock In Rio, NOS Alive, Boom Festival, Web Summit, SCP, SLB, FCP, Serralves, CCB, and many more — in countries including Australia, Japan, New Zealand, the USA, Brazil, Canada, France and many others.
We are looking for Audiovisual Technical Directors to join our team full-time or collaborate on specific projects as freelancers.
We seek professionals with vision and strong technical knowledge in audiovisual and multimedia production, leadership ability, and a collaborative spirit — capable of transforming technical challenges into creative and efficient solutions.
Main Responsibilities- Plan and execute technical studies based on available warehouse resources and the best solutions on the market.
- Ensure the technical suitability of each project (video, lighting, sound, and structures) in coordination with creative and production teams.
- Build, manage, and lead teams.
- Negotiate with suppliers and external teams, ensuring deadlines, quality, and cost optimization.
- Participate in meetings with clients and partners to define technical solutions and budgets.
- Oversee the distribution of responsibilities and tasks within the technical team.
- Supervise on-site technical implementation when required, ensuring execution according to OCUBO standards.
- Solid knowledge of video, lighting, and sound systems, including projection systems, networks, media servers, and lighting/audio control.
- Practical knowledge of electricity and rigging is a plus.
- Basic understanding of AutoCAD, Vectorworks, or other technical drawing tools.
- Experience with digital inventory & equipment management software.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in similar roles (audiovisual technician, technical production, technical coordination, or technical direction).
- High sense of responsibility, autonomy, and organization.
- Strong leadership and team motivation skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities with suppliers, clients, and freelancers.
- Hands-on attitude and ability to solve problems under pressure.
- Availability for occasional travel within Portugal and abroad.
- Fluent in Portuguese and English.
